Lingerie is everywhere these days - it's definitely in the middle of a major resurgence. There have been phases and crazes through the years, but today's lingerie trend is taking on so many forms - classic corsetry structure, retro shapes, lacing and lace to sugary sweet pastels. Anything goes!
It seems to be in every editorial, from actual bras to lingerie-inspired pieces that look like varying degrees of outerwear or innerwear. Others simply use lace, fishnet, chiffon - all the ingredients that make up the mystical mix of that which is lingerie. Numéro #110, the latest issue, blows it out big time in two different editorials. First, with model Frida Gustavsson photographed by Miguel Reveriego, and with Anna Selezniva by Peter Lindbergh.
It's always interesting that fashion magazines tend to lean towards lingerie from more apparel-focused brands - the Dolce & Gabbanas and Pradas over the La Perlas. Meanwhile, Alexandra Richards actually wears items that were meant as lingerie (an LPC slip, in fact!).
Wolford has a pair of these fabulous oversized fishnet mesh tights - they guarantee you'll make a big catch. Okay, bad joke. Really though, sometimes understatement is overrated!
